By building collaborative partnerships with medical professionals, community advocates, patients, and fellow Kansans, we’re pioneering new evidence-based approaches to prescribing practices, pain management, addiction treatment and education.

Opioid Disposal Locations available as posters customized to your area in Kansas
Open Kansas has partnered with KSA, FDA "Remove the Risk" program, KDHE, and DCCCA to produce educational posters sent to all the pharmacies in Kansas educating the public on their local disposal locations. Out of 980 pharmacies in Kansas there are only about 300 disposal locations. Not every pharmacy that dispenses opioids is required to participate in drug take back.

KSIPP Conference 2022 – panelist on opioid disposal
Watch Dr. Aaron LacKamp, Kansas Open board member, will be a panelist at the Kansas Society of Interventional Pain Physicians annual meeting in Kansas City at the Hotel Intercontinental. He will be speaking on opioid disposal as an intervention. His session is called “Essential review of pharmacology, opioid management, and opioid use disorders." October 8, 2022.

Opioid Prescribing Smartphone App!
We are in testing for a smartphone app for interns who are sending patients home with new opioid prescriptions. The app will include nonopioid alternatives, opioid disposal information including disposal location finder, opioid conversion calculator, and an optional text reminder function. Soon to be released!!
